One way to avoid the renewal hassle is to use a visa agent such as INDONESIA on Bali, who (for a fee) will do most of the bureaucratic work for you.

This one is pretty easy and straight forward, with the assist of an agent.

It's advised to initiate the process at least 7-10 days before your Visa on Arrival runs out. In case it's more on short notice the agent could give an express service, which would come with an surcharge.

Note Please :Days off - Saturdays and Sundays, Public Holidays , are not calculating as visa processing days.

If computer system in immigration office is broken, this days are not calculating as visa processing days, fingerprint scanning also  can not be done in this days.

  • Its important to apply passport for extension before visa expired, process of extension can be finished after. You will not get fined.
  • In case of cancelation of extension full price will be charged.

Countries not listed on Visa On ArrivalIf you have a passport from a country that is NOT LISTED above in section Visa On Arrival then you HAVE TO apply for a visa ABROAD - in one of the Indonesian embassies or consulates outside of Indonesia.

Usually you need a sponsor letter from an Indonesian citizen to get a visa. If you for many countries this can be arranged with the help of a reliable visa agent.

Usually it's difficult to arrange a visa for nationals from:

  • Pakistan (NEW : Sponsor letter can be arranged with the help of an agent.)
  • Iran
  • Israel
  • North Korea
  • Cameroon
  • Liberia
  • Niger
  • Somalia
  • Afghanistan
  • Guinea

For citizens from the above countriesIt CAN be indeed very challenging to get a standard tourist visa. The local agent here in Bali can usually NOT organize a standard sponsorship letter; and tourists will have to go through the Indonesian Embassy abroad.

There is one exception, which is called a Calling Visa, which the visa agent can initiate to process. However there are costs involved.

Visas are therefore issued to those travelers who are visiting Indonesia on government work, on business, for social-cultural activities and for holidays (purpose of visit).

For further information please contact an Indonesian Embassy or consulate outside of Indonesia, preferably in your home country.

Make sure you start to apply a few weeks before your departure and get all necessary documents.

Visit VisaForeigners can apply Visit Visa in the Indonesian Embassy or Consulates, or the guarantor could apply to the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta, Indonesia. Visit Visa is issued in the Indonesian Embassy or Consulates with mandatory requirements of: Application/Guarantee Letter, passport with minimum 6 months validity, copy of bank accounts, return /through tickets and re-entry permit (or stateless / non nationality person) .A holder of Visit Visa is given up-to 60 days stay and can be extended in Immigration Office for 4 (four) time, each extension will be given for another 30 days stay.

SINGLE VISIT VISA (short term visa,) - Social Culture Visa B211If you wish to stay longer in Indonesia (eg study or family reasons), you can apply for a sosial/budaya (social/cultural) visa.

How do I get a Social Budaya VISA?A Social Budaya VISA has to be processed in an Indonesian embassy before entering Indonesia.

  • Leave Indonesia and come back in. This VISA is a single entry VISA only.

Overstaying in Indonesia

In case you overstayed, it's not the end of the world.

You will simply pay the fee at the immigration counter without getting hassled (stay polite at all times and say that you miscalculated).

Many tourists end up paying the additional fee (penalty) because they wrongly assumed that the visa was valid for a month. So watch particularly the months that have 31 days.

Previously, foreigners could be held in detention or refused permission to leave Indonesia until they paid a fine of IDR 300,000 (~USD 21) per day.
However, starting from May 3, 2019, visitors who overstay their visa in Indonesia will face a daily fine of IDR 1,000,000 (~USD 70), as per the Government Regulation No. 28 Year 2019.
Therefore, if you have overstayed your visa by, for example, seven days, you would have to pay IDR 7 million (~USD 490). For a month-long overstay, you would pay IDR 30 million (~USD 2,100).
Overstaying visa in Indonesia for more than 60 days
Staying in Indonesia longer than your visa or entry permit allows is considered an overstay in Indonesia. There is an opportunity to pay a fine; however, the purpose of the regulation is not to provide an endless extension for your stay.
The difference between the legal consequences to one who is overstaying less than 60 days and the one overstaying more than 60 days is simple. The one staying less is getting a daily fine. However, the one staying over for more than 60 days can face deporting and blacklisting.
Once you have overstayed more than 60 days, officials will investigate as well as question you thoroughly. You will also be no longer welcome in the country for re-entry for a particular time.
It can be months as well as years, depending on the decision of the officials. Also, keep in mind that getting out of the blacklist in Indonesia isn’t an easy process.

Sworn and Certified
Translator

sworn translation (also called a public, legal, official or certified translation) of a document is endorsed by the signature and seal of a Sworn Translator who is authorized by the Foreign Office to translate official documents. These translations are regarded as having formal status by the authorities.

 WHO ARE SWORN TRANSLATORS?

A sworn translator is someone who is authorized by the Foreign Office to translate official documents. Accredited translators and interpreters are known by different official names according to the country.

The name and details of a sworn interpreter are registered in the Office of Language Interpretation in Indonesia, and in the regional office of the District Council. By signing and sealing, the translator assumes responsibility for the document.

A sworn translation is different from a normal translation insofar as it is signed and sealed by a sworn translator and is therefore regarded as having official and formal status by the authorities. Furthermore, sworn translations can only be provided in hard copies, given that they need to be signed and stamped by the translator.

However, the original documents can be passed on in any form (email, fax, etc.). Although sworn translations can be made on stamped paper, this is not a requirement of the Foreign Office, and these days it is hardly used. In addition, it can be accompanied by additional documents,

Each sworn translation needs to carry a certificate whose signature and seal have been registered by the Foreign Office through the District Council of the region in which the translator works.

THE FORMAT OF A SWORN TRANSLATION

Sworn translations ought to contain the signature and seal of a sworn translator: Signature: Mr / Mrs (name and surname), Sworn Interpreter of (language), certifies that the present document is a faithful and complete translation into (destination language) of a document originally written in (language of the original). In (location), on (date).

WHEN IS A SWORN TRANSLATION REQUIRED?

A document that is written in a foreign language and presented to official bodies (e.g. administrative bodies, a university, a court, a notary) is normally accompanied by an exact Sworn Translation of the original text. In this case, a sworn translator is required.

On the other hand, a sworn translation can be used to guarantee the accuracy of the information translated, given that a sworn translator takes responsibility for the translation with his/her signature and seal.

WHICH DOCUMENTS DOES A SWORN TRANSLATOR USUALLY TRANSLATE?

Many institutions require a sworn translation when dealing with documents in a foreign language. For example, when validating a foreign university degree in the Ministry of Education, a sworn translation is required. Another time when sworn translations are needed is when studying abroad, where it is necessary to present an academic record, which should be certified by a sworn translator.

In the case of marrying abroad, a sworn translation of the birth certificate of the foreign spouse(s) is usually required. In the world of business, there are many cases in which a sworn translation is needed, for example, when a company has commercial relations abroad, it is commonplace to require a sworn translation of the certificate of incorporationstatutes, and other internal documents.

Document legalization is required when Indonesian official documents, issued by the Indonesian government, are to be used abroad for official purposes, often related to immigration procedures of Indonesian nationals who are intending to work / live in a country abroad.

After the legalization by the Indonesian government bodies of both the Indonesian version and the English (and/or the language of the country abroad) version of the marriage certificate is completed, both versions of the marriage certificate need to be legalized by the embassy of the country where the documents are to be used.

Depending on the type of document legalization and the country abroad, the legalization of documents generally takes around 3 to 4 weeks to process.

This one is pretty easy and straight forward, with the assist of an agent.

It's advised to initiate the process at least 7-10 days before your Visa on Arrival runs out. In case it's more on short notice the agent could give an express service, which would come with an surcharge.

  • Iran
  • Israel
  • North Korea
  • Cameroon
  • Liberia
  • Niger
  • Somalia
  • Afghanistan

There is one exception, which is called a Calling Visa, which the visa agent can initiate to process. However there are costs involved.

Visas are therefore issued to those travelers who are visiting Indonesia on government work, on business, for social-cultural activities and for holidays (purpose of visit).

Sworn and Certified Translator

sworn translation (also called a public, legal, official or certified translation) of a document is endorsed by the signature and seal of a Sworn Translator who is authorized by the Foreign Office to translate official documents.

Legalization Document

Document legalization is required when Indonesian official documents, issued by the Indonesian government, are to be used abroad for official purposes, often related to immigration procedures of Indonesian nationals who are intending to work / live in a country abroad.

Indonesian documents need to be legalized by the Indonesian government. By legalizing a document, the Indonesian government confirms the legal status of the documents.

Types Documents That Require Legalization

Documents which are often required to be legalized are:

  1. Marriage certificate
  2. Education diploma
  3. Reference letter
  4. Police clearance
  5. Birth certificate
  6. Passport

Besides the documents mentioned above there are many other documents which may require document legalization, depending on the request from the country abroad.

Procedure of Document Legalization

The process for legalization depends on the type of document to be legalized. Document legalization generally consists out of multiple steps. By way of example, the legalization of a marriage certificate

Requires the legalization at the following bodies:

  1. The Ministry of Religious Affairs
  2. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
  3. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  4. The Embassy of the foreign country in Indonesia

Before legalization of the Indonesian marriage certificate at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the marriage certificate needs to be translated into English and/or the language of the country abroad by a sworn translator.
